Afiz has been telling me several times before about this place, but the plan was postponed for a lots of unexpected reasons. However, we were finally there last weekend. Definitely, this place will be my new weekend getaway. I hope all of you enjoy this wonderful scenery through my picture. btw.. mind some of the blurry spot on the pics as i have to stand my tripod in the river.

Imagination and Reality
|
|
Hi... The idea of this entry came to me last sunday. I went to Sent's 'kampung' in Segamat and met his grandmother. She was really friendly and was excited of us coming. It was my first time meeting her and i'm so pleased. However, whats impressed me the most that her house was full with local flowers. The colour was so contrasted and varied, and it make me wonder how the constrast will be in monographic view as every colour represents shades of grey from white to black. For me, this is the 'big thing' to master in order to interpret colour to black and white, some sort of to look in mono. Please tell how u think of the pictures. Thank you for keep visiting my page.
Best regards ,

From Jeli to Grik
|
|
It have been weeks since my last entry... mpeehhh lama gila tak update... hahaha.. anyway.. this is a new one.
Last 2 weeks, I went to Kelantan to attend and photographed Shy's wedding (my ex-housemate), with Sent, Zu, Pejol and Acit. It was pretty damn tireless... departed from KL at 10.00pm on Friday and arrived in Pasir Mas at 5.00pm. But, it was an enjoyable journey. Congrats to Shy for the wedding (hahaha worth the money spend on the phone huh). We spend the night with Au and his family... hahah makan Nasi Kerabu.... sedap and murah gila. At first, i think of going back to KL on the same day, but seriously it gonna be insane. After the "kerabu' feast... we all hang out at a mamak stall to watch Liverpool vs Spurs (definitely i cant forget Kewell strike).
The day after, i decided to take the Timur-Barat routes to KL despite of Gua Musang road. The route basically passed this places Jeli - Grik - Kuala Kangsar - Ipoh - KL. The road from Jeli to Grik crossed the magnificant Banjaran Titiwangsa. No Kidding... the scenery is fantastic and for me i cant never find any other road in Malaysia with this kind of scenery. While rushing back to KL, i managed to stop for a few shots... i wish i have longer time.
Ok... enough talking... i thanks Zu, Sent, Acit and Pejol for such an experience (esp to Zu for driving at most of the time). Hope u guys enjoy this entry... bye2

Ive never seen these Birds so close....
|
|
Frens.... Last week, me and Chip went to Jabatan Perhilitan Conservation Center in Sungkai, Perak to shoot birds pictures for an ID company. It was really damn fun eventhough i really wish a telefoto 2.8f lens will fall from the sky that day. Thanks to a bright sunshining weather so that i still can shoot using 90-300mm 4.5-5.6f lens. These birds actually is near extinction and being conserved and bred here. Thumbs up for Jabatan Perhilitan for the honourable efford. Anyway, this is the results and hope u guys like it...

The most important part that we are attend the 'kenduri' to acknowledge the marriage... Anyway... this is what i see of an event called "Wedding".

Deepavali Celebration At Sri Maha Mariammam Temple, KL.
|
|
Chip called me the night before and come up with this plan. I was excited coz this is my first time shooting Deepavali. My body was a bit chill (nak demam rasanya), but mind the bollocks. At 7.30am, i arrived at the Pasar Seni, LRT Station. Chip, Hanie, Hanie's counsin and his white-americano bf are already there. Hehehe.. i was a bit late then... overdose.
Sri Maha Mariammam Temple was one of the earliest Hindu temple in Kuala Lumpur. Built in 1873, the temple was now located in the dense area of Jalan Tun. H.S. Lee. Despite of its ancient spiritual objectives, it has now become a 'must-visit' tourist attraction in Kuala Lumpur. The temple is famous for its multicolor-full-of-sculpture entrance tower, stands in between shop lots. Inside, there are few scupture of hindu's god, well proctected in its own room.
Our arrival was greet by the smell of burning jasmine, the incessant chanting of Hindu priest and the sound of religious music. There are already few 'early bird' indian having an early prayer. To be honest, i really cant figure out the exact ceremony performed by the priest. Its like a repetition of god-worshipping activities for every hindus who came. They will start with praying at the main temple, meet the priest, take a bless from the candle-like fire that the priest bring and thumbed a color-paint at their forehead. Then, they'll take walk and pray to the other temple inside the compound. At the end, they're are serve with a special porridge (combination of rice and sour milk). Eventhough i was a bit confused and left blank on how the celebration really went, i was fascinated and thankful of being able to capture the celebration at the first place.
We hang over there until Ciput come to catch us. I went back home, got a bad fever and flat on my bed for a day. I really having a great time and thanks to Chip and Hanie. I would like to wish Happy Deepavali to all Hindus.

Kenong
|
|
It was a busy week after the trip to Malacca. New boss, new jobscope, the usual stuff, the same old Kuala Lumpur again and again. It’s about time to get out again and our next target was….Kenong.
Taman Rimba Kenong is located at the district of Lipis,Pahang. Situated at Sg Kenong (from which the name came), it is accessible via road (with a four wheel drive) and boat via Sg. Jelai. Kenong was outshone by its big brother, Tmn Negara and even I doesn’t aware of its existence until the last 6 months.
We begin our journey exactly 2.30 A.M Saturday morning that took us to Bentong, Raub,Benta and finally Kuala Lipis via the Karak Highway to catch the 7 o’clock train. After registering our particulars with our travel agent, we met our tour guide, Mr. Ibrahim. About 20 minutes later, we arrived at Batu 9 station. I recalled one of my friend mentioned that every train station in Malaysia situated at urban area. Well, he definitely doesn’t see this one yet. The station was built by less than hundreds strong log, placed carefully side by side to create a platform that could hold about 100-200 people. There’s an old ticket booth with no occupant. There’s a mysterious feeling about the platform with fogs still clinging in the air (its 7.30 A.M by the way), which makes us rather forget about KL. Great. About 5 minutes of walking, we arrived at Sg. Jelai. Although it’s not my first time riding a boat, its still fascinate me. Not only that, but the river itself delivers its message of beauty self to us the second our boat hits the water. We arrived 10 minutes before eight for our first step into Kenong. We are bewildered when we heard Mr. Ibrahim mentioned the time (2 and half hours) it takes to get there. We make our way through Kg Dusun (about less than 30 old traditional houses) until the end of the road and into the forest.
Kenong has 7 caves to be exact, waiting to be explored by adventurer. We make our first cave hunt with Gua Tangga. The name was taken after the rows of “seats” that was found inside the cave. It’s like half-coliseum, with a rock shaped like a table right in front of it. It reminds me of Gladiator, when the senate conferred, seated in a rows of bench with the speaker stands before them.
Gua Telangkup and Gua Telahup have their own attaraction. In Gua Telangkup we found a man-shaped staglamite that seems to be bending down (that’s where telangkup came from). Our first encounter with bats begins here. Meanwhile in Gua Telahup there’s an open arch like a gateway into nowhere (seems like Stargate at 1st glance).
Gua Telahup ends our journey of caves for the day. We continued trekking about an hour into the dense forest heading for our campsite.
The journey through the forest was eventful. We encountered elephant’s tracks, some edible plants that we have never heard before, sounds of birds (hornbill, woodpecker) and wild fruits. We found trees that aged more than hundred years old, standing talls among their lesser subordinates. Tualang, Meranti and Nyatoh were among the “kings” that we paid tribute to.Along the way we also come across wild mushroom, an odd looking lollipop shaped plant and even Kacip Fatimah (tons of it).
We arrived at the camping site about noon, and due to exhaustion, we opt for a night in the hostel, rather than setting up a camp ourselves. And that was only after the 1st three caves!
Our beginning of the 2nd day was Gua Buta. Instead of walking through it normally, we have to climb first. It reminds of the journey between Frodo and Sam ascending Mount Doom (seriously). It was the darkest cave, even a torchlight was needed to take a shot. The tour guide was kind enough to hold the light when every shot was taken. The best and only option for me is to use my 50mm 1.8f MK II lens with the highest ISO setting (1600) for every shot taken. In the caves we even found other peculiar fauna that we’ve only seen in Discovery Channel before, caves snakes, centipedes and spiders among others. The walkthrough was nothing like a walk in the park. The climbing continued even when we are inside. There’s a rope available to assist us in our climb towards the top of the cave. After we descend from the cave (much harder than ascending), we continued directly into our next cave, Gua Hijau. The smells of bat dung, much stronger than the other cave greet us “warmly”. Not surprisingly as this cave was the biggest breeding ground for the bats.
Sadly, due to the limited time of our journey, we couldn’t venture into the other two caves. We also missed the 7 storey-high water-fall. According to Mr. Ibrahim, we need at least 3 days in Kenong, as it would take 3 hours to go there (from our camping site).
Heavy hearted, we left the camping site around 2 PM for the journey home. The most exciting thing during the walk was when we encountered about 700 meters of elephant’s trail. We could see their leftovers dung and plants that they have eaten, in fact, we could almost feel their presence, watching our every moves.
